Whether you're traveling the "Blues Highway" in search of the spirits of the early blues legends or just seeking to escape from the hustle and bustle of the modern world for a bit of serenity, our old-time farm houses have what probably you need.
Located north of Greenwood, Mississippi on the banks of the Tallahatchie River (of "Ode to Billie Joe" fame) on a Delta cotton plantation, these two to four-room dwellings are located in a beautiful 4½ acre landscape, overlooking a bend in the river, and are preserved examples of the small rural homes that once dotted the Delta countryside where so many great blues artists were born and raised and wandered.
A similar dwelling a few miles away near Avalon, Mississippi was the home of blues great Mississippi John Hurt and was a Hurt Museum until it burned a few years ago.
Could Robert Johnson have actually died in one of them? His grave in the cemetery at Little Zion Church is less than a mile away and current knowledge is that he succumbed in one of the small houses nearby in an area from which we saved some houses.
So, y'all hitch up the buggy and come on. We'll leave a porch light on for ya.

Miss Aubrey

Tush Hog
Named for the man in whose house Robert Johnson may have died, this 3‑room shack sits on the edge of blues history. With a queen bed, single bed, and queen sofa bed, it's a favorite among solo travelers, couples, and blues pilgrims from around the world.

Ashland
This 4‑room shack was acquired from the Brown family's Ashland Plantation—once one of the largest plantations in Mississippi. With a king bed and two singles, it's ideal for small groups or families.

Nellie
A 3‑room shack with a tender history—donated by a family in memory of their beloved cook. Queen bed and double sofa bed make it perfect for couples or solo travelers seeking peace. A favorite among repeat guests.

Palo Alto
Donated by the Townes family from the Palo Alto Plantation, this 3‑room shack is a favorite among international visitors. The front room combines a king bed and living area, with an adjoining double bedroom.

Red House
This 4‑room shack was saved from destruction and named for the famous Jimi Hendrix song. With a king bed, two singles, it's a favorite for groups, families, and school trips.

Walk Where History Happened
Robert Johnson's grave at Little Zion Church is less than a mile away. Bryant's Grocery, where Emmett Till's story began, is just down the road. The blues, the civil rights movement, the Delta itself: it all happened here.
We highly recommend Sylvester Hoover, a Greenwood-based civil rights historian, for guided tours of the Delta's historic sites.
