The summer pause is over. Season 5 of the Hush Puppy Music Coop Concert Series officially begins on Tuesday, September 22 at a brand-new venue: Zoe Coffee Co. in downtown Greenwood. This cozy café blends exposed brick, warm lighting, and seasonal drinks with the kind of friendly energy you only find in small towns—the perfect setting for an intimate evening of songwriting and storytelling with three exceptional artists.

All ages are welcome! Admission is free for Hush Puppy members with a $10 suggested donation for non-members. BYOB (bring your own beer/wine) is welcome, and drinks and snacks will be available for purchase from Zoe Coffee.

Meet the Artists:

Amy LaVere is a force of nature. A Memphis-based singer, songwriter, and upright bass player, her music blends folk, rockabilly, and indie-folk with a darkly romantic edge. NPR's Robert Siegel says she "specializes in lyrics that are more barbed than her sweet soprano prepares you for". Her breakout album Anchors & Anvils was produced by Jim Dickinson, and her 2011 release Stranger Me was called "the break-up album of the year" by Spin.

Will Sexton—Amy's husband and longtime collaborator—has grown into a skilled musical polymath over three decades: an esteemed writer, producer, session player, and solo artist. His guitar work has been heard on hundreds of records, including the latest EP released by legendary soul artist Al Green.

Jon Byrd—Greenwood native—returns to the Hush Puppy stage to start the evening off on a good foot. Born and raised on a Mississippi Delta farm, Jon learned guitar at 14 and has been crafting genuine, roots-driven songs ever since. His unique, crisp vocals blend traditional country with a shot of rock 'n' roll.
