Remi Goode + Abels & Mosley

  • Zoe Coffee Co 319 Howard Street Greenwood, Mississippi, 38930 United States (map)

There's something special about live music in a small room—the acoustics are warm, and the distance between the artist and the audience practically disappears. That's exactly what you'll find at Zoe Coffee on Tuesday, November 17, when Hush Puppy Music Coop brings a "duo of duos" to downtown Greenwood.

Remi Goode is a trained classical guitarist and choral singer turned alternative folk songwriter. Performing with her partner Gabe Lehrer, their two instruments interlock and weave into something at once airy and cinematic. NPR's Tiny Desk Contest team said the refrain in her song "Return to Sender" was so catchy they "can't stop humming it around the office." If you're a fan of Katy Kirby, Sara Bareilles, Suzanne Vega, or Kathleen Edwards, you'll find a new favorite here.

The night opens with a true musical homecoming: Cecil Abels (aka "Mr. Sippy"), a Holmes County native and New England bluegrass veteran, reuniting with Alanna Mosley, the Carrollton-born singer-songwriter who won the 2016 Jimmie Rodgers Songwriting Competition. The two met years ago at the old Carroll County Market, jamming for hours. Now they bring those shared roots and pure love of entertaining to the Hush Puppy stage.

Good to Know:

  • All ages welcome

  • Admission: $10 general · Free for Hush Puppy members

  • BYOB—bring your own beer or wine

  • Coffee, specialty drinks, and light bites available for purchase from Zoe Coffee

  • Free street parking downtown

Pro Tip: Grab a latte and a pastry from Zoe before the music starts. If you're looking for a full dinner, eat at one of the great restaurants downtown first. And make it a Delta night—Tallahatchie Flats is just minutes away.
