Folks, I've seen a lot of blues in my time, but let me tell you something—this one's special.

John Primer is coming to Greenwood. A three-time Grammy nominee, a Blues Hall of Fame inductee, and a man who helped build the sound of Chicago blues as we know it today. He was born on sharecropper land in Camden, Mississippi, in 1945, and he's been carrying the Delta in his soul ever since.

He moved to Chicago in 1963 and started playing for tips on Maxwell Street—the birthplace of Chicago blues. From there, he went on to become the bandleader and lead guitarist for Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, and Magic Slim & The Teardrops.

After Muddy passed in 1983, John joined Magic Slim for 13 years before launching his own band, The Real Deal Blues Band, in 1995. He's recorded more than 100 albums, with 17 in his own name, and written and produced over 55 songs. He's been inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame, earned three Grammy nominations, two Lifetime Achievement Awards, the "Muddy Award" for Traditional Blues Icon, and multiple Blues Music Awards.

And he's bringing his full band to the Museum of the Mississippi Delta on Thursday, October 8. Show starts at 7:00 PM. Doors open at 6:30.
