A Piece of Plantation History

This 4-room house was acquired from the Brown family from their farm, Ashland Plantation, at Schlater, which at one time was one of the largest plantations in the State of Mississippi.

Mary Norman and her family are preservation-minded Deltans who all love its new home here at Tallahatchie Flats. The house has been carefully relocated and restored to preserve its authentic character while providing modern comforts for guests.

Ashland is a 4-room house, but the second bedroom is really the living room serving double duty—two single beds that also work as couches during the day. It's a flexible layout that works well for families or groups. One nice feature: people in either bedroom can get to the kitchen and bathroom without going through the other bedroom.

Today, Ashland stands as a tribute to the Delta's agricultural heritage: a place where you can step back in time while enjoying the peace and quiet of the Tallahatchie River valley.
